Arrive Delhi and transfer to your hotel for overnight stay. Half day sightseeing tour of New Delhi.
Early morning flight to Paro. The flight to Paro is breathtaking with views of major Himalayan peaks and on final approach Bhutan’s own snowy peaks. Arrive Paro and transfer to your hotel. Afternoon, visits to Drukgyel Dzong and Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest sacred shrines in Bhutan. Overnight stay in Paro.
Drive to Thimphu enroute stopover at Chuzom (Confluence) at the entrance to the Paro valley, where the Paro and Thimphu rivers meet. Visit Semtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress of the kingdom, shortly before reaching Thimphu. Afternoon sightseeing of the town of Thimphu. Overnight stay Thimphu.
Morning sightseeing of Thimphu. Afternoon drive to Punakha, enroute stopover at Dochu-la pass. Evening visit Punakha Dzong, a 17th century fortress. Overnight stay Punakha.
Drive to Gangtey via Wangduephodrang to visit Dzong and local village. Then drive up a winding mountain road into the Phobjikha valley. First of two nights in Gangtey.
Visit Gangtey village and visit Gangtey Gompa.
In the morning, explore Phobjikha valley, chosen winter home of black-necked cranes, migrating from the Tibetan Plateau. Drive to Trongsa, crossing Pele-la pass. Evening visit to Trongsa market. Overnight stay Trongsa.
Morning visit to Trongsa Dzong, a masterpiece of Bhutanese architecture. After lunch, proceed to Bumthang, the religious heartland of the nation. First of two nights in Bumthang.
Day to explore ancient Buddhist temples and monasteries of Bumthang.
Visit Bumthang market. A long drive to Thimphu. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay Thimphu.
Morning at leisure in Thimphu before driving to Paro. First of three nights in Paro.
Day excursion to Haa Valley – one of the best places in Bhutan to experience the traditional Bhutanese way of living.
Your journey in the kingdom culminates with a hike to the most famous pilgrimage site in Bhutan: Taktsang Lhakhang or the Tiger’s Nest Temple (9,300 ft). Visible from afar, this stunning monastery clings to a vertical granite cliff 2,000 feet above the valley floor. This evening, celebrate your Bhutanese adventure at a festive farewell dinner.
