Board your flight at Heathrow to Varanasi (via Delhi).
Early morning arrival in Delhi and transfer to domestic terminal for a short flight to Varanasi (c. 80 mins). At Varanasi airport, you will be met by our representative who will take you to your hotel where you will be met by your tour leader Tommy Reynolds. In the evening, welcome dinner to meet and get to know your fellow travelers. First of four nights in Varanasi. (D)
An early start to the day with pre-dawn meet at the hotel lobby. As an introduction to Varanasi, we will take a sunrise boat trip on the Ganges river to witness the morning activity at the ghats, the pilgrims performing the morning sun salutations. (B)
After a walking tour of Varanasi, we visit Sarnath – a treasure trove of archaeological findings and a great location for architectural photography. (B)
After breakfast, we will visit Chunar, which is approximately 40km from Varanasi. Chunar is the place where religion, history and nature intermingle with each other. The imposing Chunar Fort makes for an ideal location to take some memorable photographs. There are many stone temples with rare figures and inscriptions on the walls which will test your composition skills. (B)
After breakfast we drive (approx. 6 hours) to the state capital of Lucknow. This bustling city, famed for its Nawabi era finesse and amazing food, is a unique mix of the ancient and modern. It is home to extraordinary monuments depicting a fascinating blend of ancient, colonial and oriental architecture. After checking in to your hotel in Lucknow you will be met with your local English guide and we will take an evening walk around the city. (B)
After breakfast, we will spend the majority of the day exploring this fascinating city, with an opportunity to see monuments such as Imambara, Rumi Darwaza and Kaiserbagh. You cannot visit Lucknow without trying the incredible Kebabs and Biryanis on offer. Evening at leisure. (B)
Today, we continue our journey to Agra. Arrive Agra and check in at your hotel for a leisurely evening. First of three nights in Agra.
An early start this morning to photograph the Taj Mahal as it sparkles in the dawn’s light. After breakfast we visit a marble inlay workshop to see how the intricate stonework on the Taj Mahal was created. In the evening we cross the Yamuna river to photograph the Taj Mahal from a different vantage point, with an opportunity to capture the Taj’s reflection on the water.
Morning visit to Agra fort. Afternoon, free for independent activities. Evening Q&A session with the expert followed by farewell dinner. (B+D)
After breakfast we drive to Delhi (approx 3 hours) in time to board your return flight to Heathrow. (B + Inflight meals)
Tommy Reynolds is a professional portrait and travel photographer and director based in South East England. His assignments include work with well known brands such as Universal Music, Sony Music, Ben Sherman not to mention famous bands and artists such as Pixie Lott, The Vamps & UB40. Tommy’s photography has had him working on both commercial assignments and personal projects around the world including India, Switzerland, China, Sri Lanka, Germany, France, Dubai, Netherlands, Sweden.
