Darjeeling is as unique as it is diverse. Situated at a height of over 2000m above sea level, this beautiful town with its colonial charm and contemporary culture shelters in the shadow of mount Kangchenjunga’s snow-covered peaks.

Darjeeling feels old and new, from its modest beginning as a hill station and tea distribution centre, is now a cosmopolitan town offering luxury hotels, restaurants and shopping centres. Yet just a few moles from the busy bazaar’s you can find villagers living a slower agricultural life in touch with the seasons: ploughing hillside terraces by hand and constructing colourful houses on steep cliffs.

The area of Darjeeling has four seasons, Winter, Spring, Monsoon/Summer and Autumn. April to June is a great time to visit with clear and calm days. If you feel energetic and want to undertake some hiking this will be the best time to undertake such expeditions. The Monsoon usually begins in late June and is mostly over by the end of August, with July seeing the heaviest of rainfalls. The cool evenings of Autumn start creeping in during September and last till November this is another great time to visit this area. If you are intending to visit between September and November make sure to stay for the Diwali celebrations.
