Situated in the state of Tamil Nadu, Mahabalipuram sits on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal. In the 7th and 10th centuries, this place was a very active sea port of the Pallava Kingdom. It was named by the people more out of appreciation that the cruel king was killed rather than out of admiration for his leadership. There are many temples and building in the city which is the proof of the creative art of the region. The Mahabalipuram Dance Festival, which takes place during Jauary – February each year attracts a large number of dance lovers from across the world.
