Begin your journey in vibrant Calcutta before taking a spectacular Druk Air flight into Paro, where jagged peaks give way to emerald valleys. Your adventure weaves through three of Bhutan’s most compelling destinations: Paro, with its legendary Tiger’s Nest Monastery perched impossibly on a cliff face; Thimphu, where ancient traditions meet modern life in the world’s most charming capital; and Punakha, home to the magnificent dzong straddling two mighty rivers.

With our decades of experience in the kingdom, you’ll discover the Bhutan most never see. Share butter tea with local families, witness sacred ceremonies in centuries-old monasteries, and understand why this remarkable nation measures its success in happiness rather than GDP. From carefully selected boutique lodges to our network of local experts, we’ve crafted an intimate journey into the last true Shangri-La.

DAY BY DAY ITINERARY

DAY 1: Taking flight

Your journey begins with a flight to Kolkata, India’s cultural powerhouse. We’ll arrange the perfect connections to get you there smoothly.

DAY 2: Kolkatta Awakens

Watch the City of Joy come alive! Wander through the colorful chaos of the flower market, marvel at the iconic Howrah Bridge, and discover the stark contrast between the colonial-era Victoria Memorial and the spiritual intensity of the Kali Temple.

DAY 3: Bhutan Beckons

Fly into Paro’s dramatic valley, then drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s charming capital. Stretch your legs with a visit to the quirky Takin preserve – where else can you meet a goat-antelope that’s also a national animal?

DAY 4: Thimphu Treasures

Dive into Bhutanese culture at the National Memorial Chorten, where prayer wheels spin and locals gather. Watch students master traditional arts at the National Institute for Zorig Chusum – from intricate painting to wood carving.

DAY 5: Into the Valley

DAY 6: Punakha Paradise

Descend into the subtropical Punakha Valley. Your prize? The magnificent Punakha Dzong, rising like a medieval vision where two rivers meet. This former capital still buzzes with monks and local life.

DAY 7: Fortress Deep Dive

Explore every corner of Punakha Dzong, a 17th-century masterpiece. With six stories of temples, hidden courtyards, and ancient artwork, it’s like walking through living history.

DAY 8: Return to Paro

Cross the mountains one last time, taking in those sweeping Himalayan views. Settle into Paro Valley, where your Bhutanese adventure began.

DAY 9: Paro's Past

Start at Drukgyel Dzong’s dramatic ruins, then visit the ancient Kyichu Lhakhang temple. Cap off your day at the National Museum and the commanding Paro Dzong – each stop more fascinating than the last.

DAY 10: The Tiger's Liar

The big one: trek to Tiger’s Nest Monastery. Yes, it’s a climb (2,950 ft up), but watching this golden temple emerge from the mist, clinging to its cliff face, makes every step worth it. This is what Bhutan dreams are made of.

DAY 11: Farewell Bhutan

Fly back to Kolkata, your head full of prayer flags, mountain views, and monastery bells.

DAY 12: Homeward Bound
